Smart Routing Configuration
Transaction routing in finance directs financial transactions between entities, ensuring smooth fund flow and efficient payment processing. It determines the optimal path based on factors like cost, speed, security, and reliability. Organizations minimize costs, reduce risks, and enhance efficiency by selecting the right route.
In today's complex landscape, transaction routing connects payment systems and enables interoperability among stakeholders. It is vital for secure fund movement globally, settling payments promptly while mitigating fraud or system failures.
Transaction routing provides more control over your payments. It allows for the customization of payment flows based on the issuer country, currency, card brands, flexible load distribution, lower transaction costs, and the use of retry and cascading in case of provider downtime.
Key feature of Transaction Routing:
Load Distribution
This feature enables the distribution of transaction loads across multiple merchant accounts and processing banks. It provides merchants with a way to minimize risk and maximize their processing volumes.
Routing Based on Issuer Country:
This feature enables merchants to strategically direct transactions according to the country of the card issuer. It provides valuable assistance to merchants in effectively managing risks associated with various countries and geo-locations.
Routing Based on Currency
This feature enables merchants to efficiently route transactions based on the currency involved. By doing so, it empowers merchants to effectively manage and mitigate risks associated with different currencies.
Routing Based on Card Brand
This feature enables merchants to route transactions based on the card brand, providing them with a valuable tool to mitigate risk and optimize processing volumes.
Routing Based on Card BIN
This feature enables merchants to efficiently route transactions based on card BIN (Bank Identification Number), thereby minimizing risk and maximizing processing volumes.
Retry Payment
This feature facilitates the automatic retry of transactions in the event of errors, including failures, false positive declines, and system errors.
Cascading
This feature enhances the likelihood of successful transactions. In the event that a transaction fails, cascading will automatically redirect it to alternative providers.
Authorized Users for Transaction Routing Configuration
The following users have access and the ability to configure transaction routing:
NetValve Admin
Required Configurations
Before adding a transaction routing rule, it is important to configure certain settings. These configurations will be required for future use.
Configure a Site. The user is required to configure at least one Site.
Configure a Merchant Account. The user is required to configure at least one Merchant Account.
Optional Configurations
To further customize your settings, you have the option to make certain configurations.
Bin Groups. The user will have the option to configure at least one Bin Group.
Transaction Routing Rules
Steps for Adding a Transaction Rule
After logging in to your account, navigate to the Smart Routing page.
Click on the "Add Rule" button.
Fill in the required details:
Site. Configure a rule for the Site listed in the dropdown menu.
Rank. Indicate the rank of the rule.
Important Notes:
The dropdown menus for Sites and Bin Groups will be populated with the configurations set during the initial setup.
Multiple rules can be configured for a single site.
Only one rank can be assigned per rule. Therefore, adding another rule with rank 1 is not possible if there is already an existing rule with the same rank.
c. Percentage Distribution. Adding a Percentage Distribution.
Required details:
a. Primary Merchant Account. The default merchant is to be utilized for transaction routing.
b. Max Ticket Amount: This option allows for configuring the maximum monetary value that can be processed in a single transaction through a particular percentage distribution.
c. Overall Limit. This option provides the ability to set a specific limit for the total number of transactions that can be processed through a particular percentage distribution.
d. Percentage Limit: This option allows you to configure the allocation percentage of a specific percentage distribution in comparison to others within the same rule.
Important Note:
At least one (1) Percentage Distribution is required.
Multiple Percentage Distributions can be added, ensuring that the total percentage limit across all distributions equals 100%.
Review the rule settings to ensure they meet your requirements.
Save the rule by clicking on the "Save" button.
Following these steps will enable you to successfully add a transaction routing rule. It's crucial to thoroughly test and validate your modifications to ensure their proper functionality.
Steps for Editing a Transaction Rule
Begin by locating the specific transaction rule that requires editing.
Click on the rules “View/Edit” button to access the form and make necessary adjustments.
review and adjust the relevant settings as needed. Please follow the instructions provided above for adding a transaction rule.
Once you have completed your edits, ensure that you save your changes by clicking the "Save" button.
By following these steps, you will have successfully edited a transaction rule. It is important to thoroughly test and validate your modifications to ensure their proper functionality.
Steps for enabling/disabling smart routing for specific clients or account
Smart routing needs to be enabled at the Netvalve level:- By default, the global flag for smart routing is enabled within the Netvalve microservice.
Smart routing needs to be enabled at the Client/Account level:- Smart routing functionality is disabled by default for specific clients/accounts. To enable smart routing for a particular client/account, the flag needs to be set via the Back Office Portal by a Netvalve Admin. Please contact the Netvalve Admin to request the activation of smart routing for your client/account.
Smart routing retry needs to be enabled at the Netvalve level:- The global flag for smart routing is set within the Netvalve microservice, and by default, it is disabled.
Smart routing retry needs to be enabled at the Client/Account level:- Smart routing for specific clients/accounts can be enabled via the Back Office Portal by a Netvale Admin. By default, this feature is disabled. Please reach out to the Netvalve Admin to request the activation of smart routing for your client/account.
